Final Preparations

Final preparations are well underway for the relays on the 18th May at Sutton Park. Medals have been ordered and received; race numbers

Preparation of race packs

ordered, received and sorted into the race packs; Programmes have been prepared, typed and printed and are ready to go… All that is left is the final course inspection next Wednesday, updating the risk assessment and the remaining ‘race pack’ stuffing with the programmes, declaration sheets and security notice.

Officials and marshals have been allocated and all we need now are the competitors and good weather.

Cows Mooove back to Sutton Park

Will all competitors in the forthcoming National Masters Open Road Relays in Sutton Park on the 18th May, note that you may be sharing the course with cows!!!

Two years ago several of our marshals turned drovers when the Sutton Park cows decided to invade our course. All was well and no harm done, although I’m not sure whether they all got back together again very quickly!!

Final Appeal for Officials & Marshals

This is a very important appeal for volunteers to help us at the National Masters Road Relays to be held at Sutton Park on Saturday, 12th May 2012.

Because the event clashes with the County Track & Field Championships we are desperately short of Officials. We need timekeepers, recorders, funnel recorders and anyone who can help with the start and finish procedures. Anyone who feels they can help us out then please in the first instance contact Mike Wrenn on mike.wrenn@blueyonder.co.uk

I am also compiling a list of Marshals; any member interested in helping out here should please contact me on mmac.sec@blueyonder.co.uk

Currently I am short of 15 places in total in the two races. If some can do both races, so much the better.

If we cannot get the required number of people then the event will be in danger of being called off.

Please try to help if you can.

Relay Entries 2012

All details of the team entries have now left me and are being prepared for the production of the programme and declaration sheets. There will be a few individuals that will appear as ineligible to run, this is because I have not been given a legitimate registration number or they do not appear on the database. Entrants who are 1st Claim to other clubs have also been excluded under the competition rules.

A few facts and figures…. 32 Clubs entered 84 teams by post and 40 Clubs entered 122 teams online, a total of 206 teams which is 16 up on last year. The online entry represented 59.2% of the teams entered (55.56% of Clubs entered online). The number of online entries has increased again for a third year and these cut down dramatically the administration involved compared to the postal entries and I urge team managers to consider this option next year.

Assuming all turn up to race, we have 92 teams in Race 1 (all women and M65+) and 114 teams in Race 2 (M35 to M64).

See you all on the 12th May 2012 at Sutton Park.

12 Days To Go

With only 12 days to go to the closing date for receiving entries for the National Masters Open Road Relays, (14th April 2012) I have only received 5 club entries so far. I am not exactly in panic mode but I would have like to have received a few more by now. Please do your best team managers, to get your entries in to me as soon as possible, preferably using the online system as this cuts down dramatically the amount of administration. (We are all busy here at MMAC!)

Full information is available direct from the following link: – http://tinyurl.com/77y25ug

You can enter 3 times the number of athletes needed, so plenty of reserves. Don’t let worrying about injuries delay your entry.

I look forward to hearing from you all (team managers of course).
