A week to go and preparations are far advanced……..
This is a reminder that the closing date for entries to the National Masters Open Road Relays is midnight on the 19th April 2014.
Full details appear elsewhere on this site (see previous post). For the first time at Sutton Park more than one team per Club can be entered. As long as you are a registered athlete with an affiliated UKA Club then we will accept entries. There are NO individual entries, please get your Club Team Manager/Captain/Representative to enter your team.
Details of the 2014 event plus entry details can be found on the dedicated page.
Note that Clubs can now enter more than one team but will only qualify for one set of medals.
Also the number of legs for the M35 category have been reduced from 8 to 6; M45 category from 6 to 4 and M55 category from 4 to 3.

The final course inspection took place this afternoon. There are a few areas where extreme care will have to be taken. Owing to the recent rain and high winds there are areas where mud has been deposited on the course. Efforts will be made to clear these to a minimum but athletes should be aware of the slippery conditions.
Only the team packs now to be completed!
I have sorted out all the medals into the appropriate age categories, all ready for the presentations a week today. Hopefully the MMAC Chair, Irene Nicholls, and President, Marcia Smedley, will be able to find them easily and not get mixed up!
Final preparations are well underway for the relays on the 18th May at Sutton Park. Medals have been ordered and received; race numbers
ordered, received and sorted into the race packs; Programmes have been prepared, typed and printed and are ready to go… All that is left is the final course inspection next Wednesday, updating the risk assessment and the remaining ‘race pack’ stuffing with the programmes, declaration sheets and security notice.
Officials and marshals have been allocated and all we need now are the competitors and good weather.
Will all competitors in the forthcoming National Masters Open Road Relays in Sutton Park on the 18th May, note that you may be sharing the course with cows!!!
Two years ago several of our marshals turned drovers when the Sutton Park cows decided to invade our course. All was well and no harm done, although I’m not sure whether they all got back together again very quickly!!
Apologies for lack of information this year but other commitments have demanded my time away from uploading any new posts. However, I can report that final preparations for the National Masters Open Relays at Sutton Park on the 18th May are well in hand. Team entries are slightly down this year although the number of Clubs represented is slightly higher. Significantly more clubs are entering online and this helps us so much with production of the programme and in cutting down on admin that it is highly likely that next year we will go over to online entry only, the same as the ERRA Senior 12 stage Relays.
We have NOT had a massive response for officials and we are desperately short of timekeepers/recorders. Anyone who feels that they can help out then please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Processing entries went well and we allowed an extra 3 days before closing the online entries. Thanks to everyone involved to make this happen. Queries with non-eligible athletes dropped this year and most were sorted out fairly quickly and painlessly. However there were still a few that team managers entered that were not registered 1st Claim athletes. But I think the message is getting across!
Age identifiers are not being used this year, instead the race number will reflect the age of the team. For example the prefix digit will denote age, therefore number 301A will be the 35-44; team 1; 1st leg, 425B will be 45-54; team 25; 2nd leg and so on. One less number to worry about!
All we need now is glorious weather ………………
